WG 5 Strategic planning and collaborative innovation as proactive public management strategies

Due to the complexity in problems and new challenges public planning institutions are requested to change their role in these years towards a proactive and integrating planning role. Strategic planning has become a new buzz word in theory and practice as an attempt to act proactively and develop a common framework for the development. New ways of thinking and innovative ideas and solutions to difficult problems are also asked for which require the integration of different forms of information, knowledge and perspectives in the planning processes. The workshop will concentrate on the following two issues:

  • What are the perspectives, successes and failures of proactive strategic planning efforts?
  • How can collaboration between a diversity of actors enhance innovation in planning processes, services, products, organization etc.? What are the main barriers and drivers for collaborative innovation?
