John Renner HansenJohn Renner Hansen is Professor of High Energy Physics, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen.

He has a solid career as a scientist in high energy physics (325 peer reviewed articles), more than 35 years of teaching experience, and active contributions to natural science policy, including, e.g. chairman of the Danish Natural Science Board 2001-2005 and delegate to EU FP6-7 research infrastructures committee.

After a master's degree in 1980, he joined the European center for particle physics, CERN in Geneva, where he worked until 1986 and again from 1992 to 1993. He received his PhD. in 1987, became associate professor at the Niels Bohr Institute in 1995 and professor in 2002.

Since 1997 he has been part of management at the Niels Bohr Institute, first as responsible for teaching, then as deputy head, and 2005-2012 as head of department.
